The Call Of The Wild is the story of Buck, a dog stolen from his home and thrust into the merciless life of the Arctic north to endure hardship, bitter cold, and the savage lawlessness of man and beast. White Fang is the adventure of an animal — part dog, part wolf --turned vicious by cruel abuse, then transformed by the patience and affection of one man.
I read this book and finished it in 2 days. This book was a gift from my bosses, who knew how I love to read.I have always picked up the book in book stores, but never end up buying it because I am not sure how good is the book.
Me saying:
This book is great! I have doubts reading books that are written from an animal perspectives or view, I am afraid that it will make injustice to to the story and the animals themselves. I was surprised of how the stories were written, showing how the author, Jack London have such understanding about animals that he makes we realised the complex emotion and turmoil in these creatures minds in ways that does not ridicule the reader nor the animal. For me, this book s in its own league that I would not group it in any of other books that I have read. I reread it immediately after I finished it, immersing myself to Buck's joy of finding himself and White Fang's embrace of being loved and to love Mr. Scott.
The book and me:
Reading The Call of the Wild reminded me of my own periods of darkness and depression. It gave me hope and guidance, that being hurt does not mean that I have to alienated those who hurt me and the changes that I experienced due to being hurt. I must forgive them, be comfortable with my new self, let go all the bitterness and find my own call of the wild.
